The Week in Pictures: 9.5.08

This has been one crazy week! I’ll be arriving in New York next Saturday morning to celebrate my 27th birthday with Gala Darling and a bunch of friends including Bianca, Star, Marie and Gilda! You’re all invited; I’ll be posting an invite and details early next week!

This New York trip will be my ninth since 2001. It should be extra fun because Gala and I will be rooming together (in total obsessive compulsive coordinated Virgo madness, I’m sure!) and then racing off to JFK at the end of the week together for another adventure…

Last week Gala emailed me, mentioning that she was going to the Blog World Expo in Las Vegas and that it would overlap with my stay in New York. I was sad that she was leaving, but thought about it some more and decided that going to Vegas to learn more about blogging was too good of an opportunity to pass up. It’s one of my favorite things to do and some of the most prolific bloggers in the entire universe will be there speaking! So, in two weeks, Gala and I will jet across the country in separate planes, meet up in Vegas, go into complete blogging overload, and best of all, I’ll be representing my awesome employer, Nemo!!

Besides making ridiculously last-minute travel plans, I worked on the last two pieces of art for my October show at Nemo and cleaned like crazy. It’s always nice to stack magazines in order. Anyone remember NEST? I miss it terribly.

I also rested quite a lot (hey, it was a three day weekend!) and scouted fun stuff to do in NY. I think that one of the three Topshops will be open, along with a temporary Colette outpost! It’s going to be so good.

This is also still my favorite necklace. Fangs rule.

Also! For an early birthday present, Lee just bought me a full-length mirror! I haven’t had one of these in years (actually, the entire time we’ve lived together) and I think he was finally fed up with me waking him up at ungodly hours to ask if my outfit works! I still don’t own a scale, an iron, a couch or most other household staples, but it’s all about baby steps!

One more thing! When I was in New York back in July, Bianca and I went out to a club night called Sway that turned out to be totally amazing. We caught a cab at about 4 am and for whatever reason, our driver was certifiably NUTS and driving like a complete maniac. The more we laughed, the faster he went! I filmed the ride home and here’s what happened! Haha, only in New York!

How was YOUR week?

Ah, how I miss the NYC cabbies. I wish I were still living there so I could go to the party. I would love to meet you and all the girls in person, even though I feel like I know you from reading your blog every day. Have a great trip! I can’t wait to see the pics!

Elizabeth: I do my birthday in NY every year and I’m sure all of us getting together will be a tradition from now on…so there’s always next year!

Lol, you should try getting a cab in San Francisco at any time of the day… all of the drivers think they’re in the Formula 1 races or something…

I <3 NYC and wish I could go too!

I’m so relieved to hear that this most likely won’t be the only time that there’s going to be NYC birthday shenigans. I want to go but I’m only 16 and in Canada with no funds to get myself there =[

Also you and your friend Bianca are insane. I love it.

bianca: I think I started the ‘ride the pony’ thing because we were getting thrown around so bad like we were on a wild animal! Haha!
