What I Wore: 8.17.08

These are the only shorts that I own! I got my first pair of lederhosen at three years old when my parents returned from Europe in 1984. They were gray buckskin with red straps and heart-shaped pockets!

Lederhosen were always a staple in my family since I’m mostly of German and Austrian decent. We would visit the Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth, Washington almost every year in the 80s and dress up.

Shirt, Nordstrom
Cardigan, Isaac for Target
Key necklace, gift
Socks, Forever 21
Lederhosen, vintage
Wedge shoes, Dries Van Noten
Purse, Miu Miu

I found these shorts on Ebay last year; they didn’t come with the traditional straps. They belonged to a lady that visited Germany in the 1950s when she was 12 years old. I love clothing with a history. When I wear these, there’s always a bit of a bulge where the flap is because lederhosen are normally worn by boys and men. Oh well, it’s a small price to pay!

I love the way you continue to reinvent black, gray, red, and white- it’s lovely to watch!

Also- i’m totally jealous of your Dries find. I’ve been looking for a pair on eBay for months but my size has yet to pop up for the right price :( Soon enough, though!

I save pictures that I find really inspirational in a folder labelled “gorgeous outfits” on my computer.
This is your 3rd time in it! you dress DIVINELY!

(in restrospect, that sounds creepy.. sorry?)

Sammy Doll: I know, those Dries are totally impossible to find! They must’ve produced very very few or perhaps they were snatched up quickly!

Mary: That’s awesome! I keep a folder of pretty, stylish & inspiring girls on my computer called WEBGIRLZ. Haha!

Tiera: Gray isn’t the most practical color for shoes, but I’d wear them every day if I could!!
