Another Day at the Office.

In late June, I was contacted by a band out of Chicago called Office on New Line / Scratchie Records to develop some comps for their upcoming album. I enjoy client work; it pushes my boundaries and I always learn something new during the design process. Depending on the project, I usually combine a multitude of methods including scanning materials, layering images and brushes in Photoshop, and finally, adding text in Illustrator. While most of my personal art is done by hand (yes, I sit on my floor for HOURS and collage tiny pieces together), most of my graphic design work is done digitally, since many drafts are often required. These are some ideas I came up with:

Though in the end Office ended up moving in a different direction, I really enjoyed the experience and the work that transpired. My favorite design is the middle concept; my brother and I set a timer and we must’ve shot that image of ourselves at least 20 times with less than ten seconds to get into place and pose!

I’ve designed a fair amount of album covers this year and it’s one of my favorite things to do; who knew that art could be so powerful in such a compact format?

P.S. I’m curious; what are your favorite album covers of all time??
I have so many; I’ll post them soon!
